Monthly Pest Forecast

Insect

The bed bug will remain our number one insect pest for the near future. Infestations are increasing throughout the country, especially in the Northeast. All holiday travelers should take precaution when staying in hotels this season. Check your mattress, box spring, and head board, and leave suitcases in the bathroom if just an overnight stay. When returning home, place contents of suitcase into the wash immediately, store suitcase away from bedrooms, or place in plastic bag for storage. If you awake with strange bites similar to mosquito bites, you may have bed bugs. If you suspect you may have a problem, call us today for an inspection.

Wildlife and Rodents

Squirrels are looking to find suitable hibernation and your attic may be their first choice. If you hear noise at dusk and daybreak in your attic or walls, grey squirrels may have taken up residence. Check along eaves and soffits for holes and visible signs of chewing. Trapping and exclusion are the methods we use most.

House and field mice will start to seek out warm climates for winter. If you live near open farmland, you may see increased activity when crops are harvested. Mice get into your home through very small cracks or holes. If you can stick a pencil in the opening, that is enough room for them to enter. Make sure all doors, including your garage, seal tight to the ground. Exclusion, sealing holes, trapping, and baiting are our most popular methods of treating mice.
